Type of Excipients
Our ability to create close partnerships with both the customer and the supplier is regarded as a key factor for success.
Protect against the growth of microorganisms in personal care products with Spectrum's selection of antimicrobial preservatives. Besides microorganisms, these antimicrobial agents protect against bacteria, viruses & fungi. Antimicrobial preservative Excipients for pharmaceutical and Nutraceutical products are ideally effective at low concentrations against a wide spectrum of microbes, soluble in the formulation, non-toxic and non-sensitizing, stable over a wide range of pH and temperature and inexpensive.
Reduce free-radical damage and environmental stress on the skin. Whether you're looking for Ascorbic acid which occurs naturally and is a form of vitamin C; or Carnosic acid which is found in sage and used as an antioxidant.
Find a large array of pharmaceutical Tonicity Excipients at Spectrum Chemical designed to reduce local irritation by preventing osmotic shock at the site of application. Usually added to Injectable, ocular or nasal preparations, these Excipients include potassium chloride, Mannitol, and more.
Find a wide variety of coloring agent Excipients at Spectrum Chemical used to produce distinctive appearance that may serve to differentiate a particular formulation from others. Most of these substances are subdivided into dyes, inorganic pigments and natural colorants. Find what you need among our selection below
If an acidic environment is required for stability or therapeutic effectiveness of an ingredient, turn to These pH modifiers are important in pharmaceutical formulations.
Sweetening agent Excipients are substances that sweeten and mask the taste of food, beverages and medications to make them palatable to the consumer. Whether the sweetening agents are sugar, saccharine or other low-calorie synthetic products, Spectrum specializes in providing the top approved sweetening agents. However, if you do not see the product, grade or form of the sweetening agents you require, just contact our Excipient chemical specialist. Improve the desirable characteristics of taste, texture, and overall Palatability of your formulations with Spectrum's selection of pharmaceutical flavoring agents. Choose from our top sellers which include L-menthol, ethyl acetate, almond oil, and many more
Alkalizing agent ingredients which are useful when an alkaline environment for stability is required. Choose from ammonium carbonate, potassium hydroxide, sodium hydroxide, and many more.
Convert metal agents to a chemically inert form as-- well as other applications-- with Spectrum's selection of chelating agent Excipients, which include Edetic acid and Edetate Disodium. Also called sequestering agents, these Excipients can be used in some liquid pharmaceuticals as stabilizers to complex heavy metals that might promote instability.
Discourage recreational consumption with Pharmaceutical alcohol denaturants, a commonly used ethanol with additives to render it undrinkable. Reagent alcohol denatured is also used in chemical labs as a polar protic solvent in organic synthesis.
Find a wide selection of pharmaceutical binders & tablet binders at Spectrum Chemical including Povidone K-30, also known as Polyvinylpyrrolidone or Polyvidone, which is a polymer and used as a binder in pharmaceutical tablets. Binder Excipients facilitate agglomeration of powder into granules in this process and might also affect granule properties such as flow, handling, strength, solubility, compaction, or drug release. In addition, you'll find Ethyl cellulose which is used in the pharmaceutical industry as a coating agent, flavoring fixative, tablet binder and filler
Increase dosage form, volume, or weight of a pharmaceutical product, Because most dosages require only very small quantities of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs), diluents often comprise a significant proportion of the dosage form. This means their physical and chemical properties are key variables in the manufacturing and performance of the product, and should be clearly understood and tightly controlled. Sorbitol, Kaolin, and Calcium Carbonate are just a few of our Diluent Excipients.
Promote clump-free flow of granular mixtures with Spectrum's selection of Glidant Excipients. These Excipients reduce inter-particulate friction within a pharmaceutical formulation during the production of capsules.
Stiffening agent Excipients are used primarily in topical preparations for increasing the preparation’s viscosity. Often stiffening agents find application as sustained-release carriers and to minimize sweating and bleeding of oil-wax blends.
Find a wide selection of pharmaceutical emulsifying agents that help an emulsion become more stable. Choose from our stock of popular emulsifying agent Excipients including sodium Lauryl sulfate, emulsifying wax, Polysorbate 80, and much more.
Find a wide range of pharmaceutical wetting agents at Spectrum Chemical used to create homogeneous dispersion of solid particles in a liquid vehicle. Choose from Sorbitan Monopalmitate, Poloxamer 407, and more.
Find a wide selection of ointment base Excipients at Spectrum Chemical which serve as vehicles for topical application of medicinal substances and as protective agents for skin. These Excipients are also liquids with a relatively high viscosity so that solids may be suspended as a stable mixture
Drug Delivery Vehicles
Take a look at Spectrum's large selection of drug delivery vehicle Excipients designed to modify drug release profiles for the benefit of improving product efficacy and safety. Besides oral & topical delivery, these Excipients' delivery can also include Transmucosal and inhalation routes.
Take a look at Spectrum's wide selection of buffering agent Excipients used to maintain the acidity of a solution. In addition, our stock of buffering agents prevent a rapid change in pH when acids or bases are added to the solution in order to assure the stability of the finished product.
Coating agent Excipients which are natural or synthetic substances used to film coat the dosage carrier with a thin layer of polymeric material. Besides protecting the API from moisture, light or the acidic environment of the stomach, these agent Excipients mask the bitter taste of many active pharmaceutical ingredients.
Spectrum carries a wide selection of Disintegrant Excipients designed to promote the breakup of the tablet into smaller fragments in an aqueous environment-- promoting a more rapid release of the drug substance
While Humectant Excipients are most often found within the pharmaceutical formulation to control the moisture content of the topical pharmaceutical dosage form which increases the active ingredient solubility. The increased solubility increases the skin penetration which increases the active ingredient’s activity time.
Suspending agent Excipients help active pharmaceutical ingredients stay suspended in the formulation and prevent caking at the bottom of the container. One of the properties of a well-formulated suspension is that it can be easily re-suspended by the use of moderate agitation or shaking.
Lubricant Excipients decrease friction between the pharmaceutical formulations particles and the tableting equipment contact surfaces. Whether you require boundary, fluid-film or liquid lubricants, Spectrum specializes in providing the top lubricant Excipients but if you do not see the product, grade or form of the lubricant you require, just contact our Excipient chemical specialist. Spectrum offers a wide range of Plasticizer Excipients designed to modify the physical properties of a basic polymer. Plasticizer Excipients provide flexibility and permeability of the capsule film coating and are considered effective in retarding drug release in acid media. Choose from our wide selection below, including Propylene Glycol, glycerin, polyethylene Glycol, and much more.
Solvent Excipients are used in ointments and other topical products, such as antibacterial creams and corticosteroids. These solvent Excipients are also used in the beginning of the process to manufacture the active ingredients. As the drug is being transformed into its final form, whether cream, lotion or liquid, solvents are used as a medium for blending material.
Solvents also are used to help the final product achieve the proper consistency. Spectrum specializes in providing the top drug solvents but if you do not see the product, grade or form of the drug solvent you require, just contact our Excipient chemical specialist. Suppository base Excipients are used in the manufacture of suppositories (for rectal administration) and pessaries (for vaginal administration). They can be hydrophobic or Hydrophilic. Suppositories should melt at just below body temperature (37 C), which allows for erosion of the dosage form and release of the API. Hard fat suppository bases melt at approximately body temperature. Hydrophilic suppository bases also melt at body temperature, and typically also dissolve or disperse in aqueous media. This allows release to take place via a combination of erosion and dissolution.
